My local pawn shop has a 1918 No. 1 MkIII* that looks as if "bubba" tried to sporterize it but gave up. The front hand guard and fore-end are missing after the outer band. It appears someone cut them off. The remainder of the stock is in pretty good condition. Fortunately, the barrel has not been touched.Its a 1943 G.R.I. No. 1 MK 3, the stock is not sporterized, its missing nothing, the bore is bright and shiny with sharp rifling, and ALL numbers match, even the magazine! Im very happy for less than $100 to my door ! Its not rusty, just dirty with dried up grease, dust and dirt. Later I will take it completely apart and give her a good cleaning.
